Climate variations with periods of 100, 200, and 2600 years are positively correlated with solar-activity variations: the higher the solar activity, the warmer the climate. An analysis of geological data shows that, over the last 2.5 billion years, the cycle length decreased from 23.4 to 11 years. The ice ages were characterized by 12-year cycles, whereas the interglacial epochs were characterized by 10-year cycles. It is suggested that these variations are associated with changes in the solar activity and luminosity.
