After sketching the relevant theoretical background, state-of-the-art software techniques used by the ISRO Satellite Center for satellite-based particle estimation are presented. Attention is given to trapped radiation population distributions, as well as to illustrative examples of these measurements from the IRS-1A remote sensing satellite, whose solar cell array was found to have sustained substantial damage due to trapped protons.
