We have investigated the distributions of the time intervals between the events and the released energy from both the soft gamma ray repeating sources and the earthquakes in Southern California. We have found a strong similarity between these two phenomena in several characteristics. They both show strong correlation between waiting times and have logarithmically symmetric distributions of time intervals. They both exhibited weak correlation between time intervals and intensity.
