The light curve powered by deposited decay energy (56Co, 57Co, 44Ti, 22Na) in the shell of SN 1987A is calculated. By comparing the calculated light curve with the observed bolometric luminosity curves, the authors suggest that the decay of the radioactive materials cannot supply enough energy to power the luminosity of SN 1987A after 900 days. It is more likely that the central neutron star would be the energy source. Several possible radiation mechanisms of the neutron star and their contribution to the luminosity are discussed. The authors conclude that accretion may be the dominant mechanism.
