The use of slightly detached binaries to define main sequences on mass-radius and mass-luminosity diagrams is illustrated for the cases of RX Ari, RW CrB, BH Vir, TZ CrA, DI Peg and KR Cyg. Light curves of the systems were analyzed by the method of differential corrections to obtain photometric mass ratios, which allow individual masses, radii and luminosities to be determined. HR, mass-luminosity and mass-radius diagrams are obtained for the six binaries, with differential information used in the four cases for which observed radial velocity data is unavailable (RX Ari, TZ CrA, DI Peg and KR Cyg). Based on the resulting slopes of relations between components in the mass-luminosity and mass-radius diagrams, it is suggested that short-period Algol and short-period Beta Lyrae systems are main sequence binaries with oversize secondaries.
