Statistical equilibrium and radiative transfer equations of SiO emission are solved for Orion IRc 2. A model of a spherical expanding shell, which is exposed to the radiation from IRc 2, dust and the cosmic background, is suggested and the collisional rates recently reported by Bienik and Green (1983) and Langer and Watson (1984) are used. It seems that under some specific physical conditions the SiO masers may turn on in a star formation region. The physical conditions of Orion IRc 2 fit the specific requirements. The results of the calculations show that there is a region of V = 1 and 2 masers at the distance of 2 - 5×1014cm from IRc 2, and farther at 1016cm, a region of weak V = 0 masers. Therefore the authors can explain why Orion IRc 2 is the only star formation region displaying the SiO masers.
