Although a variety of new and innovative teaching techniques were introduced at the New Faculty Workshop in November of 2003, one method which was not covered is Workshop Physics. Based on the philosophy of learning through doing, Workshop Physics is the ultimate in active learning environments. Lectures are abolished, and students learn physics through guided hands-on activities. As a new faculty member my arrival coincided with the introduction of workshop physics at Creighton University; as such I've had the opportunity to help build our workshop curricula from the ground up, utilizing the materials by Priscilla Laws and others at Dickinson College. I'll speak of the trials and tribulations of implementing workshop physics at Creighton, the successes, student reactions, and the impact it has had on our program. Although the workshop program is physics based, I'll speak about how the ideas and methodology can be similarly applied to astronomy education.
