Single crystal growth of HgBa_2CuO_4+δ superconductor was carried out in sealed silica tube with slow cooling from 1100^0C using stoichiometric quantities of Ba_2CuO_4+y precursor and HgO in alumina crucible. The refinement of the structure was done using P4/mmm space group. The cell constants of the particular as prepared crystal were estimated a=3.8884(1)Åc=9.5380(2)ÅThe occupancy of mercury and oxygen at the mercury layer was estimated close to unity and 0.08(4), respectively. Magnetic moment measurements as a function of magnetic field (which is applied parallel to the c-axis) shows a second peak (fishtail effect) in the temperature range 5<= T<= 50K. Above T=50 K the second peak disappears or is difficult to be detected with the SQUID magnetometer. The irreversible magnetic field H_irr(T) was estimated at the point where the zero field cooling and field cooling magnetic moment versus temperature curves diverge. The H_irr(T) decreases exponentially with temperature up to ≈ 88 K. The phase diagram for the vortex matter for HgBa_2CuO_4+δ superconductor seems be the same as those of YBa_2Cu_3O7 and Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_8+δ compounds, if one takes into account the anisotropy γ =ξ _ab/ξ c of HgBa_2CuO_4+δ which lies in between the other two.
