The results of Walraven-system, photoelectric five-color photometry and simultaneous spectroscopic observations of the AM Her-type system 2A0311-277 are presented. The spectra were made with the ESO 3.6 m telescope/Image Dissector Scanner (IDS) combination, using a dispersion of 171 A/mm to cover the wavelength range between 4000 and 7000 A. A set of 43 spectra was obtained by (1) alternately making sky and star exposures through two 1.5 arcsec-width slits, and (2) combining the exposures in pairs to permit the subtraction of the sky signal. Each spectrum was the result of 200 sec of integrations during a time interval of four minutes. The photometric data were reduced by assuming average values of the extinction coefficients for La Silla.
