Addition of a paraboloid-hyperboloid telescope element capable of simultaneous imaging and detection in the X-ray and visible spectra to X-ray imaging telescope arrangements is described. X-radiation incident axially on the paraboloid is reflected onto the hyperboloid and thence onto an imaging detector. The reflection from the hyperboloid corrects for coma, and a diaphragm shields the X-ray detector from radiation that does not impinge on the collimating paraboloid. Advantages of the nested arrangement, and some disadvantages (slight degradation of X-ray and optical sensitivities), are indicated.
