Data obtained near Tbilisi indicate that the amplification of a radio signal reflected from the F-layer in the presence of intense traveling ionospheric disturbances (TIDs) may be connected not only with a focusing effect but also with an increase in the intensity of small-scale irregularities (SSIs). The displacement of medium-scale TIDs and SSIs occurs in mutually perpendicular or opposite directions.
