An investigation is conducted of aspects of galactic 'cannibalism', taking into account a direct N-body integration scheme based on a fourth-order predictor-corrector algorithm reported by Aarseth (1972). Attention is given to the orbital decay of a massive body of high specific binding energy in the inner regions of an isothermal sphere. Standard (statistical) dynamical friction expressions are employed to describe the trajectory. The cannibalism process considered is essentially identical to that used by Ostriker and Tremaine (1975) in describing the peculiar properties of cD galaxies in rich clusters. A study is performed of the orbital decay of single, relatively small bodies of high specific binding energy.
