We introduce the concept of simple-root basis for the logarithmic derivation
modules of the cones of the (extended) Shi arrangements. For each irreducible
root system and a set of simple roots, we prove that a simple-root basis exists
uniquely up to nonzero multiples. We also introduce and study the dual
simple-root basis.
