The SIM Science Studies program was created in 2008 to broaden the astrophysical reach and impact of the Space Interferometry Mission. Among the successful recipients in this program are a significant number of investigations that are focused on star formation and binary star systems. In this contribution we will summarize the goals and results of supported investigations led by:
- D. Gelino et al: on the study of interacting binary systems with SIM
- A. Kraus et al: on the prospects for SIM & RV kinematic study of young clusters as probes of natal dynamical environments for low-mass star formation
- R. Peterson et al: on the SIM study of the open cluster NGC 6791 and its binary population
- J. Tan et al: on the study of high-mass star formation environments with SIM
- J. Tomsick et al: on the study of Neutron Star and Black Hole binaries with SIM
- K. Stassun et al: on a census of wide, low-mass binaries as possible hosts for planetary companion searches with SIM
