The SIM mission has been under developement for a number of years. This talk summerizes recent developments, in reducing the cost of the mission and the current performance of the design for wide and narrow angle astrometry. Like the GAIA mission, wide angle astrometry of every object in the sky will have a significant general relativistic correction. But there are a number of observations where narrow angle astrometry also has a significant GR effect. These include measuring the mass of single stars, when they move in front of a background star and measuring the apparant motion of the background stars in microlensing events.
