A learning algorithm and a classification algorithm were used in computer calculations of the likelihood of occurrences of proton flare events from solar active regions over intervals of less than one and up to three days. The results described are used to argue an accuracy of 95 to 98% in predicting the time of flare event occurrence according to the proposed objective estimates. Comparison of results with subjective estimates from Boulder, Colorado shows that five of eight events were predicted accurately as opposed to one of eight from Boulder.
