An improved CPU time-saving method for the calculation of the short-range force in P3M scheme of the N-body simulation of the large-scale structure in the universe has been proposed. The main point is that, by rearranging the particles according to the cells they belong to, the particle pairs needed to be calculated for the short-range force are greatly decreased, and then the calculation time is much saved. A comparison is given between this method and that of Efstathiou et al., which shows that by giving the same initial conditions and running on the same kind of computers, the former is 1 - 5 times faster than the latter.
