The present consideration of the effect of turbulence on the propagation
of interplanetary shock waves shows that background turbulence leads to
additional shock wave deceleration possibly comparable to plasma
sweeping-induced deceleration. Turbulent deceleration is associated with
the strong amplification of turbulence behind the moving shock front.
