The equation of state of hydrogen is integral to a broad spectrum of disciplines including planetary science, astrophysics, and inertial confinement fusion. Several different theories exist which predict different dissociation and metallization densities also predict very different values for the shock temperature in the Mbar regime. We have simultaneously measured the shock temperature, shock velocity, particle velocity, compression and reflectivity along the principal Hugoniot up to 2 Mbars using NOVA to generate the high shock pressures. We determined the in flight shock temperature and emissivity by measuring the spectral radiance at several discrete wavelengths and fitting the data to a gray body. The compression, shock velocity, and pusher velocity were measured with side on radiography and the reflectivity was measured with a VISAR technique. These data help guide our understanding of the basic physics leading to dissociation and metallization of hydrogen at high pressures which is relevant to the complex isentrope of Jupiter and enhance our predictive capabilities for ignition targets on the NIF.
