Features of intermediate drift bursts are examined in the framework of the usual l + w yields t mechanism, focusing on the emission directivity and duct whistler propagation. The absorption band in the emission at the high frequency region of the fiber is related to the emission at the difference frequency omega(t-) = omega(l) - omega(w). It is found that the emission at the frequency omega(t-) can escape from the source when omegap/omega sub H is greater than 17 for omega(w)/4 in the meter and decameter wave range. Broadening of the instantaneous frequency bandwith bt with increasing frequency is explained by broadening of the whistler wave spectrum with the decrease of the ratio omegap/omega sub H. A relationship for calcuating the magnetic field strength in the fiber source in the meter range is presented.
