A 1404-MHz polarization observation of PSR 0823 + 26 is studied in order
to separate the two different polarization modes. The modes are
significantly nonorthogonal in the central parts of the profile. It is
argued that the nonorthogonal separation between the modes is associated
with an inconsistency of the weaker mode with the rotating vector model.
