It is demonstrated that the structure of the alpha-model accretion disk can be solved self-consistently by using equations describing the conservation laws and vertical pressure balance to determine the ratio of central to self-gravitation, the opacity, and the pressure as a function of position within the disk. Changes in the standard model for supermassive black hole disk accretion are discussed along with model features which may be relevant to the explanation of observable properties of Seyfert galaxies and quasars. Three new variables are defined: the ratio of central to self-gravitation, gas to radiation pressure, and free-free opacity to electron scattering opacity. The most conspicuous difference between the non-self-gravitating model and this self-consistent one is the sharp decrease in thickness in the middle region of the self-gravitating model.
