For a static charge outside a Schwarzschild black hole, after mass renormalization, there remains a finite repulsive force proportional to the mass of the black hole and the square of the charge of the particle. In this work we compute the force on a non-minimally coupled static phscalar charge and we find that there is no finite part of this self-force. At first we use the closed form expression for the scalar field produced by a stationary test charge outside a Schwarzschild black hole. Then we confirm our result by using Carter's mass-variation theorem for black holes.
