Argon: Transition Probabilities
Scientific paper
Absolute spectral radiances of the prominent blue argon lines between 390 and 460 nm have been measured end-on in a cascaded arc plasma. They are compared with results obtained by means of a radiative transfer model which is tailored to the experiment. The axial temperature profile of the arc plasma, the transition probabilities, and the Stark constants of the lines under investigation have been derived. The model, which yields a self-consistent set of atomic constants for the 4s-5p transitions of Ar I, is compared with other literature data.
