A method which can be used to select the optimum conditions for absolute determinations of stellar declinations with astrolabes is developed. The combination of two astrolabes with prism angles of 30 and 45 deg is shown to be sufficiently effective. Two equations for the ratio of the weights of declinations reduced to the system of the astrolabe with z = 30 deg to the weights of declinations reduced to the system of the astrolabe with z = 45 deg are derived; the first leads to the maximum weight for the primary observatory latitude while the second leads to the maximum weight for the absolute catalog declinations. The advantages of Kitab as a place for establishing this pair of astrolabes are discussed.
