A second-order calculation of the entropy changes induced by growing spiral density waves in the disks of normal spiral galaxies is presented which avoids difficulties of a previous study with the conservation of the overall entropy of the galaxies. It is shown that the appearance of spiral structure is accompanied by a net entropy flux out of the regions of spiral structure towards the resonances as expected for any physical system evolving into a more ordered state.
