Seasonal variations of diurnal and semidiurnal tidal oscillations in the lower thermosphere are reported based on meteor-radar wind measurements. The wind measurements were taken at altitudes of 93-95 km at sites in the former Soviet Union and Antarctica, and the data are averaged over the meteor zone. The amplitudes and phases of the semidiurnal tide are examined in detail revealing a 22-yr oscillation, and the results are compared with theoretical predictions. The amplitudes and phases of the semidiurnal wind oscillations in the lower thermosphere vary from day to day. A significant temporal variability is noted in the diurnal wind variations, but the theory of atmospheric tides can explain their mean characteristics. A pronounced seasonal variation is concluded to affect the mode composition of the semidiurnal tidal oscillations.
