A relatively extended galactic region in the upper Cep/Cas was searched for extremely young embedded star clusters with the aid of a multistage clustering method developed by us. Even if some of the stages have heuristic nature, the method that we worked out and describe here proved to be an effective tool for pattern analysis of distribution of point sources selected from the IRAS Point Source Catalog (IPSC). We used it successfully in studying star forming regions to locate significant enhancements (clusters) in the point source surface density distribution. We applied our nearest neighbors statistics based algorithm to a subsample of IRAS point sources resulting from a set of selection criteria formed in order to extract cold and young stellar and protostellar candidates from IPSC. We succeeded in identifying small groups among these cold sources which we think to be embedded groups of protostellar or young stellar objects.
