Cosmologies in six-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell theory and Englert's solution for elevendimensional supergravity theory are studied. Spontaneous compactification is shown to occur in which the three-space has preferred expansion over the extra dimensions. An effective fourdimensional cosmological constant is calculated for each possible solution.
