A search for high-energy neutrinos from SN 1987A was conducted using nucleon decay detectors at the Kolar Gold Fields, India. Results from a search for muons produced in nu-interactions in the rocks surrounding the detectors are converted into upper limits on the corresponding neutrino flux and luminosity. Assuming a neutrino spectrum E exp -2.1 dE and a cutoff nu-energy of 10 to the 12th eV, it is found that the upperlimit for the neutrino flux is 0.00013/sq cm s and that the upper limit for the luminosity of SN 1987 in an exposure of 83 sq m y is 3.6 x 10 to the 41st erg/s.
