The past decade has seen an explosion in our understanding of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). Due mainly to recent progress made in the fast and precise localizations of GRBs, multiwavelength studies of these astrophysical objects are now a reality. These studies at radio, optical, x-ray, and gamma-ray wavelengths, have led to a good, though incomplete, understanding of the distance scale to GRBs, their energetics, and the physical processes which give rise to the radiation which we eventually detect on Earth. The goal of the work presented here was to contribute to the present understanding of GRBs by observing them through an energy window -- the TeV energy regime -- which had been searched in the past by other experiments but which had failed to reveal any convincing TeV signals from GRBs, and by using Milagrito, an instrument which was sensitive to TeV gamma-rays and which was well-suited for catching a glimpse of these ephemeral objects. The search was made by examining 54 BATSE GRBs for TeV emission which was coincident with emission in the keV-MeV regime. The search revealed one candidate for a TeV GRB. Implications of a TeV detection on the GRB distance scale and energetics are discussed.
