The SDSS-II Supernova Survey has completed its first science run during the Fall season of 2005. Rapid follow-up spectroscopy at the 9.2m Hobby-Eberly Telescope, Astrophysics Research Consortium 3.5m telescope, 4.2m William Herschel Telescope, 8.2m Subaru, 2.4m MDM Hiltner Telescope and the 10m Keck telescope has yielded 130 spectroscopically confirmed SN Ia, 14 spectroscopically probable SN Ia, 6 SN Ib/c, and 11 SN II during the Fall 2005 run. An additional 35 photometric SN Ia candidates have host galaxy spectroscopic redshifts. Most of the Type Ia supernovae are in the redshift range z=0.05-0.4, which complements existing surveys both at low-z and high-z, and will provide new constraints on the dark energy and insights into systematics of SN Ia as cosmology distance indicators. We present spectroscopic results from all types of supernova follow-up in the first year campaign.
