constellation which lies to the south-west of Aquila, and culminates at
midnight in early July. It was introduced as Scutum Sobiescianum
(Sobieski's Shield) by the astronomer Johannes Hevelius (1611-87) of
Danzig (Gdansk) in 1684 in honor of Jan Sobieski III, king of Poland....
