The Cosmic Origins Spectrograph (COS) is an ultraviolet spectrograph currently scheduled for installation on the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) during Servicing Mission Four, in August 2008. COS provides moderate (R=20,000) and low (R=2000) spectral resolution coverage of the 1150 - 3200 A waveband at unprecedented sensitivity levels. It will be the most sensitive UV spectrograph ever flow aboard HST. In this poster, we discuss the use of COS for UV spectroscopic observations and present some of the key science programs that will be undertaken with COS by the COS science team.
