It seems to be a growing demand for launching of scientific balloons from arctic latitudes. Andøya Rocket Range is responsible for scientific-related balloon and sounding rocket operations in Norwegian territory including Svalbard. This paper presents facilities, infrastructure, telemetry and technical possibilities for launch of scientific balloons from Longyearbyen, Svalbard, located at 78 degrees north latitude. Scientific opportunities will also be addressed.
