A theoretical model is developed to analyze Venera 11 and 12 data on scattering in the He I 584-A and O II 834-A lines in the upper atmosphere of Venus. The appropriate theoretical curve was chosen from a set of solutions for various optical thicknesses with respect to scattering by means of the least squares method. Values of atomic-helium concentration of 450,000 per cu cm at a height of 145 km and of singly-ionized-oxygen concentration of 25,000 per cu cm at a height of 250 km have been obtained, which agree well with measurement data from the Pioneer-Venus probe.
