Scientific paper

We present measurements of the whole scattering matrix as a function of the scattering angle of two mineral samples (fly-ash and green clay) at 633 nm. The two samples have nearly the same mineral composition, but differ considerably in the shape of the particles. >From these measurements we conclude that the shape of the particles dramatically influences the scattering patterns. We compare the measured matrices with an experimentally determined average aerosol scattering matrix for irregular mineral particles.
