Total differential collision cross section measurements for H plus CO have been carried out at the relative energy of 870 K. The results have been analyzed using a simple spherical Buckingham-Corner potential. Previously published potentials for these systems are tested against the experimental results. It is suggested that one can use the present or similar data as a constraint for theoretically derived nonspherical potentials in order to arrive at more realistic predictions for the collision cross sections into the inelastic channels.
