Scalar waves are studied on the Boulware-Deser black-hole background. The Klein-Gordon equation is separated into radial and angular parts. The angular functions are written in terms of Gegenbauer polynomials. The radial equation is cast into the Schroedinger form, and employed to investigate the effect of the string parameter alpha on the scattering of scalar waves and quasi-normal modes.
