The additional potential in outer space generated by the deformation of earth masses due to variations in the position of the earth's body relative to the vector of its rotation is derived. An order of magnitude estimate of the amplitude of the perturbing terms in satellite orbital elements due to this additional potential is made. The perturbations may amount to as much as 10 percent of the tidal perturbations.
