Different technologies to design and manufacture a container for carrying deep cooled comet test samples back to Earth are discussed. Different concepts are described and traded against each other. The design driving aspects and the parameters used for the tradeoff are the following: low mass, high thermal insulation, high mechanical stiffness, hermetical sealing of container and sample tubes, capability to withstand overpressure, reliable operation, and easy mounting of container/opening of sample tubes. A tentative design of the sample container is presented together with a mass budget, thermal and structural dynamic analysis, and verification test sequence for proof of the concept.
