Possible secular trends of Sm/Nd ratio in sedimentary rocks and the upper continental crust over geological time are examined and comparisons are made to trends observed in othe geochemical data, notably Th/Sc ratios. The potential role of plate tectonic setting as a possible control on chemical and Nd-isotopic composition of sedimentary rocks is examined.
