The enigmatic V838 Mon was monitored at the South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO) since the star's initial outburst in 2002 January until 2004 December. Optical (UBVRcIc) and infrared (JHKL) photometry, optical images and optical cassegrain and échelle spectra were obtained during this time. Additional low resolution spectra, collected by observers in Australia using the Mount Stromlo and Siding Spring Observatory (MSSSO) facilities, are also previewed here.
