The implications of various theoretical predictions of the behavior of double contact binaries (DCB), such as RZ Scuti might be, for observational goals are discussed. In DCBs both components have filled their Roche lobes and transfer matter at an equatorial point along the line of centers. It is proposed that the DCBs will pass through a phase of rapid rotation prior to matter transfer. Rapid rotational behavior could be detected in terms of hot and cold spots on the stellar surface as they move with the star rotation, or by observations of polar flattening due to centrifugal forces moving matter into equatorial regions. A least squares analysis of the RZ Scuti light curves reveals that the primary is the same size it would be if its Roche lobe were filled. However, if both components are treated as having filled their lobes, then a discrepancy is found between light and velocity curves. A survey of previous RZ Scuti data also fails to confirm that RZ Scuti is a first known contact binary.
