We present X-Ray observations of the magnetic cataclysmic variable V2301 Oph during its high state obtained using the PCA detector of the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE). V2301 Oph is a member of the class of cataclysmic variables known as the AM Her stars which are composed of strongly magnetic white dwarf primaries and low mass secondaries. The data were acquired during September-November, 1997. V2301 Oph contains the white dwarf with the weakest magnetic field, B_* ~ 7 MG, known for an AM Her system. V2301 Oph is thus an ideal testbed for comparisons between the predictions of shock models and data because the complicating effects due to cyclotron emission may be minimal. We performed several tests of the AM Her shock model. We searched the X-ray data for evidence of the several second quasi-periodic oscillations predicted by shock models and we made detailed comparisons of both the observed x-ray continuum and line emission with theoretical models.
