The dynamics of the Jovian atmosphere are investigated. The depths of mean zonal flows (barotropic flow) alternating between eastward and westward directions and of vortex-spot motions are analyzed. It is observed that the zonal flow observed at the cloud top level may extend deep into the interior and the stationary vortex-spot must be confined to a thin atmospheric layer. The roles of solar and internal heat energies in the atmospheric motions are studied by considering the energetics of the Jovian fluid systems under the Boussinesq approximation. It is detected that the main energy source for the dynamics of Jovian fluid is the internal heat energy. The vertical gradient of the potential temperature in the interior is estimated. The data reveal that zonal flow is extending to the deep interior and is maintained by thermal convection driven by internal heat energy.
