The reaction rates for Ca-39(p,gamma)Sc-40 and Ca-40(p,gamma)Sc-41 have
been calculated on the basis of the nuclear structure parameters of
K-40, Sc-40 and Ca-41, Sc-41, respectively. The role of these reactions
for the rp-process at high temperature conditions, typical for novae and
X-ray bursts, is discussed.
