The authors have used IUE archival data to study temporal variations of
the Mg II h and k emission lines in 8 late-type giants. They present
evidence that the variations are periodic in nature. They argue that the
periodicities can be interpreted in terms of rotation and find that the
four fastest rotators in their sample are "hybrid" stars.
