The effect of rotation on the spectral lines of solar active bodies (flares and prominences) is studied. For the two cases of the spin velocity being a constant and having a gradient, the Balmer line profiles and their variation from the center of the active body to the edge are calculated. Methods for finding the spin velocity from the inclination or shift of the lines and the velocity gradient from the curvature of the lines are developed and applied to observational data from the ring flare of April 27, 1981.
