Potential energy surfaces for the HCO+/He and HCS+/He systems have been computed. These surfaces have been used to evaluate collisional cross sections and rate coefficients for the rotational excitation of HCO+ and HCS+ by collision with helium. The astrophysical implications of the results are discussed.
